My piece 'Orange Grove' is an original acrylic poured surreal- abstract painting of a Orange Tree branch full of 9 oranges on a gorgeous summer day.
The dark tree's branch is made up of greens that cast shadows and catch light. Orange Grove plays with light as a whole and shows sunlight in the orange's surfaces. The background sky is done in a nice deep baby blue with wispy white clouds to give a subtle hint of depth. The deep branch starts from near black- green to lighter greens where the sun touches the tips of the leaves.
I hand stretch my canvases and build my pine wood frames from raw pine wood. Orange grove is completed in a Colonial Maple stain to continue the fun warm vibe of the piece. It is a very light orange light brown color that shows the grooves and natural knots of the maple wood. The stain matches the lightest hues of orange to lighten up the piece and really pop the blue sky background and create a stark contrast between the frame and dark greenery.
The entire piece is done using a technique of fluid acrylic painting that allows me to pour my paints resulting in amazing up close abstract patterns. The green branch and oranges are all done by adding a paint conditioner and silicon oil to acrylic paints and pouring them onto the canvas.
The poured details are full of dark to light abstract designs with gradual touches of yellow that work together across the canvas to make one cohesive piece. I added touch ups of branch foliage which overlap the oranges slightly to show depth in the tree's leaves.
