My piece 'Speckled Siphon' is a highly energetic acrylic layered pour using a swiping technique paired with a dotted painting style to achieve an elaborate abstract explosion of color against an extremely textured dark purple and aqua blue spotted background. The base layer is done with a dark purple color mixed with silicon oils applied over a base blue color to add a base texture to the design. Next, the oils and floetrol were mixed with acrylic paints creating bubbles and abstract designs that sink into the background. The warm pinks and white were added as secondary pops of colors and were lightly dripped in spots near the boarder of the painting. The design and background of the piece together give an overall dark feel to the piece that will pop out beautifully against a light toned wall.
3 layers of an extremely high gloss varnish was applied to protect the painting and gives off a "wet" look that looks incredible in a well lit room and from the sides. The base layer's textured feels as though the design is stretched across a three dimensional space.
